Cyrano de Bergerac is not just a fictional character in a movie or a play. Cyrano is an ideal, an archetype, and a teacher for how I want to live and how I want to die. He always has been, as much as any living example. He is one who is uncompromising to his code of honor, who makes the right decision regardless of the personal cost, and though his concept of love may be flawed, it’s this fatal flaw that makes him all too human.
