Read If: You have any curiosity about how the world could be better, and how you can make the microcosm of your own world better.

Do Not Read If: You have no attention span, and need a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter to read further.

There have been many historical attempts in literature to create a fictional Utopia--A new idea for the optimal utilitarian society. Most of these ideas fail because the conclusions on societal operation do not follow from the construct of the premises. Psychedelic adventurer, novelist, and mushroom muncher Aldous Huxley did not come up short on any of those grounds. He flat out succeeded. His Island would be the best place to born, to live, and to grow old possible.

  • Interesting review. I haven’t read The Island yet, I’ll have to look into it. I would suggest After Many a Summer Dies the Swan by Huxley as well. Another thought provoking read.
